75 min. Hot Power Vinyasa

This class is taught by:

Caitlin Westby

A competitive gymnast growing up, fitness has always been an important dimension of Caitlin's life. At 16 she suffered a spinal injury while snowboarding that ended her gymnastics career. When she was introduced to Hatha yoga, her life began to transform in every area. Upon completion her first class, the resounding feeling of accomplishment, grounding, vitality, and rejuvenation that she was experiencing was unlike anything she had felt with any other fitness regimen. From that day on, her yoga practice has provided her with a strong foundation for continuous physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth. She has been inspired to share yoga with her community since.

Caitlin's practice shifted from predominantly Hatha style to Power Vinyasa when she fell in love with the Baptiste Methodology. She completed Power Yoga Teacher Training through the Baptiste Institute in 2015. In her teaching, she encourages students to build resilience and strengthen their self-efficacy in a safe, fun, and challenging environment.

She is currently studying Health Psychology with a focus on Public Health at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA. Academically she aspires to combine her love of Psychology and Public Health with her passion for yoga, and is working to incorporate yoga as a complementary healing modality in mental health treatment facilities.

Shanah Walter

Shanah Walter was drawn to yoga as a teenager because its focus on each individual's practice and non-competitive nature were a great pair for her since she lacked coordination and athleticism in the more traditional sense. While she enjoyed team sports, they never really enjoyed her, so she turned to running and yoga at the age of 15. After the birth of her second son, Shanah came back to yoga to lose baby weight and find a moment of quiet. She tried Hot Yoga for the first time and immediately fell in love. In 3 months she found a total transformation in her mind and body. She signed up for teacher training after encouragement from her husband, Eric, who had also seen the positive changes in Shanah and the joy it brought her. She took Core Power Yoga's 200 hr power vinyasa teacher training, then subsequently has been trained in Yoga Sculpt and Hot Power Fusion. In an ironic turn, the yoga that Shanah was drawn to because she lacked athleticism has resulted in greater coordination, balance and strength and her classes reflect her passion for a rigorous and playful practice. When Shanah is not on her mat, she is most often playing with her two little boys, Jackson (5) and Holden (3), wine tasting with friends, or spending time with her favorite person, her husband Eric.

Christine Bennett

I started practicing yoga over 12 years ago. To be honest it was the HOT before the word yoga that really caught my attention. I was an avid athlete and fitness enthusiast and loved the heat. I had no idea that first class would change me forever, and I’m so grateful. I practiced as much as possible. With two kids it was a challenge but provided a much needed physical and mental break from hectic days. Using skills from my former career in banking, I began doing the books for a studio. Being around yoga on a regular basis fueled my love for the practice until I finally decided to become a teacher. I finished my CPT for fitness and yoga instruction in 2011 and love being able to share my passion with others. Life’s chaotic and not always controllable, but it’s how you handle the chaos that matters. For me practicing yoga helps prep me for life…it’s the calm in the center of the storm.
Meld movement and breath for an amazing mind-body practice. These faster-paced classes are perfect to create a strong, flexible and balanced body with fun and energetic music to keep up the energy throughout class! Room temperature is around 95 degrees, so be prepared to get your sweat on and detox the body!

HPV classes are best suited for the yoga practitioner who has taken at least 3 Hot Yoga classes prior to their first Power class. Terminology and alignment from Hot Yoga classes is what will help build a strong but safe practice in HPV classes. Please be well hydrated prior to class and  bring your own mat, towel, and plenty of water!
